We were craving for Malaysian/Singaporean food around the Dublin/Pleasanton area. The Banana Garden is apparently one of my friend's go to, so it was an unanimous decision for us to come here and give it a try. The restaurant was very clean and spacious, and we were seated immediately upon arrival. The server was very kind and attentive and immediately brought us water and menus. We tried a variety of appetizers and main entrees - Roti prata: the roti was buttery and flaky and went well with the coconut curry - Chicken satay: The chicken was tender and the peanut sauce was very tasty - Mee goreng: this was pretty good with many pieces of tomato, seafood, and chicken. I've never had it before, and it reminds me slightly of pad thai but with different type of noodles - Nasi lemak with chicken: The marinated anchovy really stood out in this dish, they were crispy and fun to snack on - Jintan lamb: This was pretty good, and the lamb was pretty tender. The sauce went well with rice - Char kway teow with seafood: This had many pieces of seafood (cockles and shrimp) mixed with the noodles, pretty good We enjoyed our dinner overall at The Banana Garden, and it was interesting to try the different Malaysian dishes.
Excellent assortment of food and auth not Malay and Thai influence. Service was very attentive and quick for a business dinner for 12. Ambiance is reasonable with moderate price and sufficient portion size.
Had our Thursdate here tonight. The food was good but I couldn't eat the Tom Yum because it was spicy for me. Reason we came here was for my favorite, Roti Prata. The Chicken Satay was delicious and so is the Pad Thai. Our server, Anthony, was attentive and provided good service. I would recommend this place.
I ordered char kway teao take out and it did not disappoint. Order was on time and pick up was uneventful. If char kway teao is representative of their food, this would be a good place to come back to. Prices, as with all the restaurants, are expensive. Nearly $20 for the order!
This pan Asian restaurant in Dublin is spacious, clean, and inviting. The food was extremely flavorful! The chicken satay was super moist and well cooked. We finished off this decadent lunch with fried bananas and ice cream. Fabulous! Thank you to Anthony for exceptional service!
I was passing through the Dublin area on a road trip, so I ordered the veggie laksa noodle soup for takeout; they put the soup itself and the other ingredients (noodles, veggies, tofu) in separate packages so that you can combine it when you're ready to avoid the food getting soggy. I requested for mild spice level and no peanuts. I appreciate that they honored my request as the food was indeed not spicy. I wish there were had more tofu puffs overall. It came with green beans, okra, cauliflower, and two types of noodles. I particularly liked the soup itself since it was quite rich and salty.
We over ordered but it was mighty fun trying out different dishes. The dishes that I would go back for are... :) Gado Gado salad, this dish just punches you in the face with so much deliciousness. Crunchy jicama and other vegs with this peanut type sauce. It was my most memorable dish I had. :) Tom Kha soup - I love that coconut milk in the broth which makes it luxuriously creamy. :) Taro birds nest seafood dish - Presentation is spectac and I just love deep fried taro root! The dish we would stay away from is the Hainan chicken, it's supposed to be silky smooth but it ended up to be so dry that I almost coughed from it being that dry. Service was excellent and overall, it's a great place to eat at. I'll be back again.
